Normal cycle is 17 to 21 days. Every once in while you'll get one at 16 days and as long as 24. Much less then 16 days and she is probably cystic.
With post calving heat it can be areal variable. Some as soon as 2 weeks post calving but generally probably around 30 days (or so).
One of the magic catches to all this is that as soon as you start planning around specific time frames the girls will change.

Dun, what is cystic ?

Do you find cow cycles are affected by drought, or other things ?

Cystic refers to an ovary that has a cyst or other anomoly that causes it to not cycle correctly from ovulation, developing the corpus luteum and shedding the CL then ovulating again.
Drought, extreme heat/humidity can affect their cycling. For some reason extreme cold doesn't seem to affect them but heat does. Also illness/infection body condition and really poor nutrition.
