Baseball is fun again!

Help Support CattleToday:

I was at the Royals game last night... The K was absolutely electric. This has been so fun for Kansas City just watching this group of kids play!

World Series tickets are completely ridiculous... cheapest I can find is $750 each for Standing Room Only.

Oh, you are so lucky to have been there! My niece and bro in law went in together on a pair of tickets for all the playoff games, they have been having a ball. Niece was a toddler in 85 so this is all new to her. I think they got World Series tickets with the package, too.

I guess they have to make more money on each ticket with those games being cancelled due to the sweep?

Bummer that the Cardinals didn't win their championship. San Francisco Giants it is, bring them on!

I bet you can't get a hotel room within 50 miles of Kansas City by Tuesday.

Glad you made it. Congrats... I am guessing not too many from Baltimore on here.

Good luck...

When I was a kid I didn;t understand why baltimore named their team after a cookie, the Baltimore Oreo

I copied this from somewhere and thought some of you sports fans would appreciate it.

Here is an email sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.

Dear Mr. Page...

I always love your articles. and I generally agree with them. I would suggest, as in an email I received, they change the name to the "Foreskins" to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dik heads in Congress.

Here are some other politically correct issues to consider: I agree with our Native American population. I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives.

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.

The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates . Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee Brewers---well that goes without saying . . . Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing congress loves . . .

As a die hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers."

Well baseball is really fun tonight! Game 6, back in KC, ahead by 8 runs in the 4th. Seems a pretty sure bet at this point there will be a game 7 tomorrow for all the marbles.

Opened the game with a moment of silence for that young fellow who played for the Cards, killed in an auto accident. Dad gum it, if the Cards had won their playoff he would be in the World Series and still alive. Fate sure takes some twists and turns.

You're right that is pretty amazing, the almighty "what if". Glad to see the tribute to OT on the pitchers hat tonight and a big W to go with it.

We have some sad kids in our house.

I think my oldest son will tell his kids about how he still feels about Madison Baumgartner, Pablo Sandoval and Hunter Pence as I do about Chris Chambliss, Craig Nettles and Ron Guidry.

It was a heartbreaker. But the team should hold their heads high, it was a great season and they accomplished some great things. Finnigan pitching in college and MLB world series both is a record that might hold forever. Winning wild card game in 12 innings plus sweeping two playoff series updated the record books, too. But that Baumgardner turned out to be our kryptonite.

I was pulling for the Royals, and hated to see them lose. That was one of the better World Series I've seen in a long while. Nothing anybody could do with Baumgardner. He had great stuff this series. Sounds like He would fit in good around here with us. Sportscenter did a piece on him this morning and said he was more concerned with buying and raising his cattle than buying fancy sports cars and stuff like that. They said he gave his wife a bull for a wedding gift. Smart man. I'd say he gets the heck out of San Francisco as soon as the season is over until he comes back for spring training.

Yeah, I really wanted to hate him............but then they interviewed him and he was very down to earth, sounded like a nice polite southern boy.
