I'm a huge history buff; my hubby is from MO, right where much ruckus started along the Kansas/MO line early on, in Bates County On a trip to MO a couple years ago, I found BRANDED AS REBELS, Vols. I and II. The author, Donald R. Hale, has compiled in these books information on every Confederate soldier he found/received information for. If any of you have Confederate soldiers in your family history, wondering if there has been anything written about them, LMK, and I'll see if there is any mention in these books. Narrow it down, if you can -- if you have home-towns, birthdates, . . . . there could be six or twenty John Smiths.
