Any pics of Char X Red brangus calves?

Deenranch I know what your saying. Everyone thinks I hvae huge cows when I say they are Braunvieh. They think of Brown Swiss and think I have large milk cows. They just dont get how Braunvieh has been bred to be Dairy breed in one direction and others a beef breed. My largest cow is 1315...

    bred cattle

They havent sold yet so either no one is interested or not wanting to waste their time trying to bring them down to what they are really worth. I found out the man doing the selling tries to always do this and the complains and cries no one will buy his cattle and he takes a loss because he has...

    bred cattle

    bred cattle

I was curious as to what bred cattle are going for in everyones area. I been looking around and it seems the prices are all over the place around me. Some seem a good deal while others are just plain crazy on the high end. Or at least it seems that way for me. So what is the average price in...

    Favorite Breed

Thats how it is here too. Solid reds do pretty good but a rwf will get hammered.

    Favorite Breed

lol now that is a good idea. And they have been going a good 25 to 30 cents cheaper than all the others and even more at times.

    Favorite Breed

Well my start up herd is Braunvieh and I am really liking them. But with mroe land now available I may expand herd faster than originally planned so not sure what to go with. My local markets like the blacks and smokes best but anything sells better than a RWF around here for some reason...

    braunvieh vs gelbvieh

"""brierpatch, I don't know of any color patterns in cattle that are influenced more by one parent than the other, so I doubt that Braunvieh sired calves follow the color of their sires. Just my thoughts.""" You are most likely right. I read an article on thi but was wondering how the heck...

    braunvieh vs gelbvieh

I am new and just had my first calving season with my herd of Braunvieh. Many people talk about the mouse color but mine are all a deep dark brown. It was one of the characteristics the man who had the herd was breeding for. I plan to cross them with a black Gelbvieh or Maybe an Angus. I...

    bulls are scarce

I dont get it. Why pay 10K plus for a bull? Cattle to me are for meat and not worried nothing about how they do in a show ring. If I want to see something pretty it wouldnt be a cow. There are many good bulls out there for beef production that Don't cost as much as a car or even a house...

    it has started

Well all calves on the ground and no assistance needed. I am so relieved to be through with this. I know I have some good cows but anything can happen at any time and grateful nothing happend. Final numbers are 8 bulls and 16 heifers which has me very happy with building this herd up...

    it has started

I am not having any calving difficulties yet and from everything I have read it is rare for them to have difficulties. Their birthing canal is larger than most cows and that tends to help things quite a bit.

    it has started

Another four calves on the ground a 2 bulls and 2 heifers. Only five more to go and so far everything is going great. I don't mind all these heifers thats for sure since I am building up the herd. I plan on building up a good braunvieh herd then crossing them with a black gelbvieh. Its...

    What breed of bull

Well I am jsut getting started too and so far I am thinking my plan will be this. Raise Branvieh cows and cross them with a Black Gelbvieh Bull. I am not going to get into three way crosses but will breed my own Branvieh replacements. This is what I am planning as of now but going to be a...

    More Cattle

Well I can only speak for the ones I have and they are very laid back and care free. Even my bull is easy going. Doesnt mean I am going to turn my back on any of them anytime soon lol but no problems so far.

    More Cattle

Isnt it wild how breeding for traits can go to two extremes. Same breed and some become milk cows while others beef.
