    Surprised Again

We have this cow that we bought already bred last year. She looks like she is Angus/Brangus cross. She is solid black with a dewlap and navel flap. She was supposedly bred to an Angus bull when we bought her. She had a beautiful red calf that had the light rings around the eyes and nose like a...

    Charolais Believer

We have been using an Angus bull on our Angus/Brangus cross cows with decent results but the calves have been a little light weight at weaning. We have our first calf on the ground out of a Charolais bull and he is a beauty. If he weans as well as he has started out, I will be a Charolais...

    Beefmaster Bulls (Pics)

#3 or 1526 is my pick. He has a strong topline, good muscling, balanced in every way. The thing I do not like is the sheath. It could be the picture but to me it looks like it is too close to the ground. My next pick is 4248. The thing I did not like about the second bull was his head. It looked...

    Excellent Beef Cow

For some reason my pictures are not uploading. I get a message saying that my images uploaded successfully and then it says there were no images in this category. Anyway I want to thank each of you for your most helpful pictures and advice. We are using a very good Charolais bull this breeding...

    Excellent Beef Cow

Doc, you asked to see some pictures of our cows so if I can post some pictures you will see them. After seeing the previous post, I am ashamed to show my cattle. We inherited most of these cows 8 years ago when they were bred heifers. We knew very little about raising cattle but we have really...

    Excellent Beef Cow

Thank you brandonm2 for your very helpful info. Knersie, the pictures you posted are helpful too. dieselbeef, I'm not trying to open up a can of worms. Not interested in breed or color preferences just a picture of a good looking beef cow that has the characteristics that knowledgeable people...

    Excellent Beef Cow

I thank each of you for your responses. Doc, I will post some pictures of my cows sometime today but I already know that most of them are light muscled, light boned, funnel butted and need some condition. We have no grass and no hay so we are trying to get by with soyhulls and range pellets...

    Excellent Beef Cow

Doc or anyone else for that matter, I would like to see a picture of your idea of an excellent beef cow and why you think she is excellent. I am not trying to be smart but I need to learn what makes an outstanding cow. According to what I have picked up on this forum, I should sell all my cows...

    heifers- which one's better?

I like them both but #1 is probably the better looking of the 2. I know that neither is perfect but I like Angus Holstein cross cows. Put a Charolais bull on them and you will have some good calves. I have a pasture full of cows that look like that and they do pretty good in raising calves.

    Charolais Programs

We were involved with the Future Beef through Twin Valley but we came in very late in the program. We bought an Angus Bull and about 30 bred heifers(Angus X). The heifers calved that February without a problem. The calves were not spectacular. Twin Valley picked up the calves in Oct. and that...

    Beefmaster x Brangus Pics

Now that is what I'm striving for. I would love to have a pasture full of those. My cows are AngusxBrangus based and I have been considering a Char., Brangus or Beefmaster bull. I think all three are great but I hear so much about crazy Chars and Brangus that I have about decided on a Beefmaster...

    Angusplus Bulls

My cows are 7/8 angus and 1/8 Brangus. I would like more muscle in the calves.

    Favorite Breed

Beefmaster but I don't own a single one. We have Angus/Brangus and I love them too. As far as this question being repititous, when I first joined I did not realize that you could search the archives. Besides, I was so excited finding this board with such knowledgable people that I just jumped in...

    Angusplus Bulls

I have been reading about the Angusplus bulls (red and black). My question is what is the advantage of the Aplus over using a Brangus bull or vice versa?

    Some Red angus Cows(pics)

For what it is worth: To me Black is a color: Angus is a breed. As to my comment about the neighbor's black bull adding value to the Red Angus herd was again just a poor attempt at humor. I am not so naive as to really believe that just anything black has value. I happen to prefer the Angus...

    Some Red angus Cows(pics)

Hey Doc, The reference to the black bull was a JOKE. It's okay, I like red too. Just my poor attempt at humor I guess.

    Some Red angus Cows(pics)

I like the heifer. I wouldn't expect her to look like a show heifer right now but she would surely have a home in my herd. I do,however, prefer black. That neighbor's black bull just added a little value to your herd.
