    Southerner Weather

I'm just like Oldtimer I suppose. I start to wilt in temperatures over 80 and temps over 90 send me running for the nearest waterhole to cool off. This is one boy who will never retire to florida

you cant pick your family .. but you can write em off

If I tell everyone I know I'm gonna take the boat out on the lake for some cruising and fishing on Saturday I'll have so many people lined up I have to turn them away. If I tell everyone I really need a hand getting some hay in on Saturday I'll be sitting there picking my nose saturday morning...

    Boy are we LUCKY!

Couple more pics. The dogs want to chase squirrels but they know better than to leave the road, the snow is deeper than it looks. This road is normally 3ft higher than the surrounding ground. This picture doesn't show depth very well but this is the valley the cows like to duck down into...

    Boy are we LUCKY!

Heres a picture I snapped from the road of one of my fields. That brush in the foreground is actually about 5ft tall to give you an idea of the depth of snow. If you look really close out in the center of that field you can see the top of a natural gas line tap sticking up. That tap is...

    Boy are we LUCKY!

Yea the cattle don't go anywhere in the winter, they know where the food is. The snow stays packed down good in the areas they frequent so it's easy to walk on. I feed them twice a day and they either mill around the barn or duck down in the valley if the wind is bad. They have their regular...

    Weather in New York

Yea, weather up here has been really whacky for several months now. Was hard to get late hay cuttings cause of all the rain in august and september and now the ground won't freeze up so everything is buried in mud. Nother week of 40 degree temps so it will be at least mid january before...

    AFGHANISTAN

I'm a retired Senior Chief from the Navy and spent the better part of my career over in that theatre of operations. Was part of both gulf wars and the war in Afghanistan, lost friends on the USS Cole, walked through Kobar Towars before it was bombed, and spent almost 10 years in support of...

How many of you go to -

I live 2 miles from the local sale barn so I go quite often and always when I have cattle going through. I don't even use a truck half the time hauling lol, I just hook the livestock wagon to the tractor and bomb it down there when needed.

    Favorite Shotgun

I've always liked my 12 ga Winchester 1200. Geese, ducks, turkeys, squirrels, deer, bear, you name it and it gets it done year after year.

    Sold some calves

I sold a few 500-600lb steers this past week and got 1.04. Not great but /shrug. The only beefers that brought more for the same weight were a handful of baldies. The few Angus i saw didn't bring anymore than my Herefords. This was just a weekly sale though in dairy country.

    A Rant

I find it completely unbelievable. I fully support a full blown investigation into this issue but I don't wanna be lumped into the same category as Pelosi or Elliot who are using the incident to condemn the entire republican party. My motives for wanting this investigated is to make sure we...

    How hot is too hot?

I hide in the shade during anything over 90 degrees unless its something really pressing. Important to remember the humidity plays a big role in how hot is too hot. We rely on our sweat evaporating to cool us off. High humidity greatly slows down the evaporation and hence our bodies ability...
