    Nursing calf pulling cow down.

I've got a bull calf that's looking real promising. I was looking at his mother this weekend and she's losing some weight. He's scheduled to be weaned in about 2 weeks. Should I go ahead and pen him up so the cow can put the weight back on? Many thanks! Bob

How much will I spend for some "good" bred angus h

I run registered Angus. I tend to think buying private treaty is the way to go. Get to know the breeder. Spend some time with potential animals. You also don't have the frenzy of competition at an auction. Best bet is to buy young bred cows or 3 in 1. Figure anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000...

    Need trainer in North Texas.

I've got two weanling Paints that need some guidance. I'm new to horses. To be honest, I'm a bit intimidated by them right now. I'd like to get a trainer to work with them for a month or so to lay the foundation, give them some manners etc. Anybody know someone in north TX? I'm close to...

Stainless Ruger 10-22 with fluted bull barrel, Leupold 3x9 and plastic stock. Cheap and fun to shoot!

    Introducing horses to new pasture.

I have two paint weanlings that I have kept penned for a couple of weeks to get them used to me. I'd like to turn them out in the pasture now. I was told that I need to lead them around the property before letting them out. I have 42 acres, so that's a pretty good hike times 2. Is this...

    Need horse waterer advice.

I'd like to put an automatic waterer in the middle of my pasture. I don't have electricity. Does anyone offer one that won't freeze up? Maybe a solar panel or something? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Bob

    Type of wood for stalls

I'm putting up a small run-in using Horseman's Choice modular shelter system. The stalls have wood inserts for all 4 sides. Can I use pressure treated wood for this or are the chemicals in treated wood harmful? If that's not an acceptable material, what is the best choice? Many thanks!

    Best diet for weanlings?

We just got two paint weanlings. They are about 5 months old. The breeder has been feeding crimped oats, hay and a mineral block. Will this diet provide adequate nutrition for youngsters? Many thanks! Bob

I gave all of my cows a shot of Lutalyse Wednesday at 6:00 PM. When should I typically start seeing signs of heat? What are the most obvious signs that they are ready to breed? Many thanks! Bob

    Calf getting through barb wire.

I have a 3 month old Angus bull calf that has learned how to get through 5 strand barb wire. I was thinking of running a length of 1/4 braid hot wire about 24" high on a solar charger to put an end to his wandering. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

    Software ???

Cattle Max software can be used on a commercial herd. The American Angus Association also offers a sofware package, but as expected, it's intended to be used with a registered herd.

    what a pleasent surprise

Could also have some Limo to get the red or black. The bottom line is if it's not an exceptional bull, it's going into the food chain. I just sent two yearling registered Angus bulls to auction this week. Unless they have some strong bloodlines, no need to keep them as bulls. I know I won't...
