what type of calf puller ?

We have only used ours once in 8 yrs (backwards calf) but it sure is nice to have the thought that it is there if needed.
 
We used Willmans when I was in practice - I've used several other types, and like the Willman best.
We had the short model - good for working in confined spaces - but had a local machine-shop make a 2-ft 'extension', with 'male' on one end to fit into the receiver on the breechplate, and a 'female' socket on the other end so you could plug the 'male' end of the puller into it and have some extra oomph to get those long calves out.

I've heard some folks say, "If you never pull a calf, you never have to!" - guess that's one way to cull out the ones that can't get it done on their own.
