It is 20 degree with 2 inches of fresh snow this morning. That in it's self doesn't bother me for calving. But I had a cow that had a calf this morning on the bank of the irrigation ditch. The water isn't running but there is a couple inches of water in the ditch. And the calf slid down into the ditch. With a lot of effort from an old fat man I got the calf up out of the ditch. Took it down the bank of the dike so it would fall back in. I went and got the feed truck. Turned the heater on high and stuffed the calf in on the floor board on the passenger side. The truck is now out on the driveway and I am fixing myself bacon and eggs. After breakfast I will return the calf to its mother. The heater in that truck worked real good so that calf sure should be warmed up by that time.
