I have a short horn heifer for beef. What would be something to breed her with? Neighbor is getting an angus bull soon. Said we could let them run together. Whats your thought?

That;s as good as anything. Red Angus would be better though. The vet used a Shorthorn on some of his registered black Angus cows. The calves are real meat wagons, far better then their mothers. They're all bulls and blue roan.

My buddy bred his Shorties to a Gelbvieh bull for a few years and then went back on those offspring with a Red Angus bull. They are real good cattle.

His Shorties were big cattle and the Gelbvieh downsized them some.

Any beef bull works unless you have a specific goal. ;-)

I have gotten my best SH X replacements going with a Herford or GV bull.

I have gotten some grey calves with a BA bull and they did not sell well.
