Was wondering about this number mower and how it is. Have a New Idea disc but looking to go up to an eight foot mower. Anyone have one and how are they?

We have an MC840 and it breaks the gearboxes all to heck if you get into any rocks. The dealer was good about replacing it under warranty, and adding shoes under the cutter bar has helped some.
Otherwise, the Vermeer clip style knives are pretty easy to replace, and it does a nice job otherwise.

What is breaking on the gearboxes? And where are you located, what kind of rocks do you have?
Just curious.
