We had our first good frost about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have two four-year-old Holstein steers needing to be wormed, and wondered if this is a safe time to apply a pour-on Ivermectin to treat a variety of internal and external parasites.

When reading the instructions I was concerned about the timing, hoping to prevent adverse reactions if grubs are present. Any ideas what the instructions mean when saying to treat "at the end of the heel fly (warble fly) season"?

Is this a safe time to treat them without risk of causing other problems? Is there something I can look for on the steers to help determine this?

I don;t recall the exact timing but you don;t want to use a grubacide more then a month or tow after heelfly season. Heelfly season variuous all over the country, your local vet or UC Davis would be a good source for information about the timing in your area.
