Try Black Angus it will take them horns off, and make um black.

So let me see, selling horns not beef. Yes I do know that.. why else would you what them if the horns make up 80% of there value.

alftn,
Lots of folks take the horns off but not on registered animals if you plan to sell them as registered. Make sense? Long horns is one of the traits of the breed. There are various lines of Longhorns that were bred for beef as well as some lines that were and are bred to have longer horns. Most animals in this breed today are blends of the various lines, breeders try to combine conformation as well as horn traits. But yes, we want to see early horn growth on the calves. This helps confirm their purebred status. Longhorn crosses may or may not have horns depending on what they are crossed with.

Good looking calves. Which of your bull are they out of?

Bobg

The red/white heifer on the left is by Windwalkers Dode, the middle black heifer and the right bull calf are by our Jet Black Phantom. Windwalker is our red/white 27/32 Butler bull with ~75" horn and Phantom is our black Overwhelmer son with ~65" horn.
