Export hay is very specialized , it does deserve top dollar as input costs are unreal.

Does it not depend on the market?

I know most armers want $/bale, what about quality stables etc?

ain't no stables in these hills and holllers maybe if'n you got closer to a large city but I am in the middle of No where just ask Jed

I completely hear what you say about people buying according to price per bale, rather than price per weight, we have an new holland 282 baler (old, yes), and it makes 16x18 inch bales, but we are thinking of getting a 14x16 inch baler for the selling hay... my bales are usually 80 lbs, but if I ask 60% more than what the going price of a 50 lb bale is (and mine is better quality on top of it) people wrinkle their noses. I've learned never to trust horse and hay dealers.
