Help Support CattleToday:

The Brangus breed was developed over 80 years ago, by crossing Brahman and Angus. It is its own breed with its own registry.

I would like to also add that it is a True to Type breed. A Brangus crossed with a Brangus will yield a Brangus just like a Hereford x Hereford = Hereford. A Braham x Angus = 50% Braham and 50% Angus. Brangus are the result of a 3/8 Braham and 5/8 Angus but if you keep crossing Braham x Angus to try to reach that genotype mix, you will not necessarily have a true to type Brangus. And if you cross a Brangus with an Angus, you will not have a 7/8 Angus.

Angus x Brangus are registered as Ultra Blacks, though.
