Steer with something coming out its Butt

I have a steer with his butt or something else hangin out? He looks fine ate great, just noticed it tonight. anyone with advice before I call the vet?

Not a whole lot of information, but sounds like it could possibly be a rectal prolapse. Based on the description, I would call the vet - NOW!

Its hangs out about 3inch or so and looks redish like a bag

Your steer has a rectal prolapse. It's basically his inards trying to come out. Need to call your vet and get him to fix it soon before he gets infected. He might even have problems shedding his feces, so sense the urgency.

At the very least put it up where it will have clean bedding. Before the vet gets there. Infection is a bigtime issue at this point.

Have you been graining him alot? if so i would put him on hay only till the vet gets there and keep the prolapse clean if possible.

Sounds like a rectal prolapse that needs medical attention. Call the vet, or get it to a vet.

I've seen one rectal prolapse on a calf and he could not have bowel movements... was taken to the meat locker plant and made into beef sticks pronto (kind of like beef jerky)... wish you luck with yours.
