I have a couple Angus cows about 1 1/2 years old. One has developed fairly large sores on its face. To describe them they look like long 3/4 inch mud hornets nests. Obviously not what they are but thats what they look like. Any ideas on what or how to treat?

I'm struggling with some problems similar to that, but not open. Locals don't know what the heck it is, just write it off as an abcess. Got a several cows and a calf with it. Starts out as a lump on side of jaw or neck. I captured one of them and got it to drain. Nastiest looking stuff I ever saw. I put out medicated mineral and notice all of them starting to drain now. I'll work them in a week or two and do a mechanical drain, flush with iodine and follow up with LA200. Best thing I could come up with is a variance of wooden tongue, or at least the same bacteria that causes wooden tongue.
