I thought I would post some pictures of my place, I am in Australia at 28 degrees south of the equator at an altitude of 960m (3000feet), we have severe frosts and a light dusting of snow about every 5 years, we are just coming out of winter, the photos were about 2 weeks ago.
Lots of shelter and shade for the cows

Heifer lost her calf, but I was able to graft a twin onto her

I have a lot of rocky treed areas with fairways of pasture between them, cattle like it but makes it hard to muster, fortunately they come when called.

That will do for now, if this works ok, I might get keen and take some updated photos.

Yeh it is an old slasher or bush hog as you call them, made for an old grey fergie. I bought it for the gearbox, I am planning on building a manure spreader, using the gearbox to drive the spinner, still planning.

That is a great idea, good luck with building the spreader.

Sure like your trees, how old do you think they are ?

He's starting a new line of Mini Simmis

Give me the old times back; when in fact the aberdeen angus breed were smaller than the simmis. :hide:

I would only be guessing HD, some very big red gum could be 100yr old as with the stringy bark, the trees about 18 inches diam probably 40 yrs, also yellow box there and apple, all Australian eucalypt. They do not grow very tall here, the soil is very light sandy granite and wont hold them up, hence a high turnover. The land was cleared, I think in the early 1970's, fortunately they left these nice tree belts, just thinned them out by ringbarking and Tordan, so get good grass growing under.
Ken

Nice country, have you recovered from the drought or were you not affected? the gras certainly looks good and the cattle in condition.
Cross_77 I will get some cattle pictures up from here again, we have the largest herd of the remaining heritage Aberdeen Angus and Hereford.
