Nice Damaras, will you eventually cross traditional rams over some of them to get a better carcase in the terminal, or just breed pure? the in-laws did some crossing in Namibia, but the sales of live Damaras to the local tribes people was profitable enough to make crossing not worth the bother! I agree with Knersie, both my Wiltipers, and later Dorpers consistantly produced 160% + on kikuyu pastures, producing three lambings over two years, making them very prolific compared to the wooled breeds in our area.
 
I would prefer to keep them pure, and develop better carcase by selection pressure and use of AI/ET. From what I've seen there are some pures in SA with tremendous carcase.

I can see the potential however, of crossing with dorper to get some more carcase into them, then breeding back up to pures.
