The year has started well. We have just sold a South Devon bull to the Atherton Tableland in far north Queensland. 2,000 kilometres away. We took him to Toowomba in southern Queensland (just over 200 ks from us) to meet up with the carrier. It will take two days to get there.
On the way back we called into a Brahman breeder's place and bought a lovely Gyr type heifer. She has mainly Australian bloodlines with a touch of Arauto on her sire's line and has a mix of JB and McKellar (US) bloodlines on her dam's line.
She should do very well for us we may even show her yet,she's only 15 months old,she'll be joined later on in the year (AI) to 5P Benson and old US red bull that came out in the 80's.
Have a good pen of steers (pure South Devon) for a Beef Show in our hometown next week.
Hope we can get amongst the prizemoney.
Hope we get some rain soon, its getting dry again need more grass for winter thats on its way.
