Alan, are you planning to do the a.i.'ing yourself? if not, i'd check into Bez's suggestion of having it stored by whoever will be doing your a.i.'ing (i presently have some BM in my tank).
when you order from Reed, they will send it in a shipping canister. there is no minimum order but i don't like to pay shipping on just one or two straws. the straws will need to be transferred from the shipping tank to your tank as soon after arrival as possible (UPS usually comes back the next day to pick it back up) & i always try to make sure my order isn't sent out where it will sit somewhere over the weekend.
