just wondering how long a heifer can go past there due date. i have 2 heifers we put to ai. one on the 20th sep 09 and the other on the 22nd sep 09. is it 9 months or a certain ammount of days. they are both lose at the rear and a bit of udder and both been showing discharge for afew days. the clean up bull went in with them 12 days after ai so the first heat should be around 9 days after that. they certainly dont look as though they will last 21 days after due date. any thoughts

Depending on the breed the gestation length is 283 - 289 days. But 2 weeks over or under is still considred in the normal range

thanks for your help dun. if my calculations are correct they are around 276 days. i did think there udder was not quite there yet
