Could you all please explain how ET works, what it generally costs, the advantages and disadvantages.

Simply put, the cow is treated with hormones to cause her to produce more than one egg. She is then bred (usually AI, usually twice). After a few days, the, hopefully, fertilized eggs are flushed out of her and either implanted into recip cows or frozen for future use. The costs involved are drugs, actual flushing, implanting or freezing, storage of frozen eggs, boarding costs if you leave her at the facility, etc. I posted a link to REI at Stillwater, OK on the other thread. They do a lot of that work and you can probably get some info on prices from them. There are technicians, though,who will come to your place and do the flush, implanting or freezing and let you do everything else.
