Oh no... bad eye owie on young animal

Help Support CattleToday:

That's looking pretty good indeed... I have learned not to put too much faith in what my vet says and keep to my common sense.. we dehorned some animals in March once, and one of them had really big "cloud stabbers", and the wounds didn't heal over by the time the flies came around, so I was making a 300 mile round trip weekly (I wasn't living on the farm at the time), to treat her.. it was a pretty disgusting sight, but once I managed to keep the flies off (gauze plastered on with pine tar did the trick), it healed over in a hurry...

This year I had a cow with a sort of ingrown horn, and the flies had gotten to it.. it's possible she got barbed wire around it as she always has her head through the fence, and I soaked it with Absorbine Ultrashield, undiluted... They say you shouldn't use it around a wound, but it worked perfectly with just one dose since it lasts about 2-3 weeks, and in that time it healed up and she's been fine since
