I hope to be done fencing in about 125 acres of pasture soon. We have been cutting hay off of it and will squeeze another cutting in before the fence and water are done. This will become our summer pasture; however, this year I will be pretty understocked for the 2ish months of grass left.
Would the better course of action be buy some light breds and carry through winter, so that my stocking rate would be correct next year as well? If we get another decent cutting off of the piece, we will have an excess of hay. Or, should we try and find a group of thins and run them until the grass plays out and ship them? Or stockers?
Thanks.
