After jigging around more than an Irishman doing Riverdance...
This first timer finally became a momma.
Like the rest of our first timers this year, her instincts of mothering seem real good and strong.
Her biggest issue was trying to hold the little pop tart in.
Licked her off real good, but fighting against the baby trying to come out, but calf and mom were wiped out after. Lol.
Haven't seen one this nervous to calve in a while, but it sure was cute to see the cow trying to tuck and snuggle her new one beside her.
In this still, the calf looks like "mom, I can't move"

My first heifer to calf needed some help with it... and she didn't do much licking, but lots of mooing at the calf.. I got the calf to nurse, and then gave it some extra colostrum.. Next day I saw it nurse on it's own, and it drank a pint of grandma's milk happily.
Today, Momma has kicked into high gear, udder full, leaking teats, and baby is nice and round... looks like she's gotten into the swing of it.

Nice picture :)
