mineral feeder fly rub question

I finally got around to hanging the fly rub on Dun type mineral feeder. I used an old sweatshirt, cut it into strips and dipped the strips. I noticed that the strips blow in the breeze a little. Has anyone noticed the cattle shying away because the strips flapping?

No matter how "spooky" something might be - the cattle get used to it. Be sure the "strips" don't hang where they will drip INTO the mineral.

If they were eating out of it before the strips they'll eat out of it with them

I had a similar problem with the sock things you soak and hang. Cows would not go through them. I put mine on a chain with those snap rings, I had to start out with only the chain, then add a few socks a day. They started going through it no problem by day 3. Was just going to "force" them to use it by benign neglect, figured they would probably tear up the fences to get to the water.
