Could anyone explain the formula to me on how to figure out how much soybean meal to add to ground ear corn to make it be about 14-15% protien?

It's called Pearson square:

1. Draw a square, put the amount of protein you are trying to achieve in the middle.
2. Write the protein of one ingredient in the top left corner, and the other ingredient in the bottom left corner.
3. Subtract horizontally-------Always subtracting the smaller from the larger. You don't want a negative number.
4. Then subtract the two ingredients.
5. Divide the product of number 3, by the product of number 4. That will tell you the percent of each ingredient to use in your ration.

3 ingredients is a little trickier. If your mixing say: corn, sybm, and soy hull pellets. On your way to 14%. Do a Pearson square with sybm and corn, at 18% then add that mix in a Pearson to the pellets. You may have to play around with it to get the mix you want, but it can be done.------Or you could look it up on the Internet. Back in the day we used to do all kinds of strange things with pencil and paper.

On that link it has the formula to mix more than two ingredients down the page. I saved the formulas for furture reference. If you have the formulas you just need to plug in your numbers.
