As fall season is fast approaching I have been thinking about hauling calves to the auction. I was wondering what you think are some important things to keep in mind in terms of preparation, cattle handling and stocking density? How do you prepare for shipment date? What things have helped you?

We fenceline wean ours for at least 5 days before the sale. Put them with free choice hay and hand feed about 5#/head/day. It has really helped our shrink, as well as eliminating the hassle of splitting pairs on sale day. We take ours the day of, not before.
