I'm looking at building a creep feeder out of wood and plywood. I'm wondering how hardie board 4x8 sheets would stand up to cattle abuse. Any experience with this?

No experience with using it on cattle.

It is extremely brittle. Great for its intended function. Impacts will destroy it. As soon as the cattle start rubbing a scratch, you're gonna have a mess. My opinion only.

Not well.
Be much better off with plywood.
Hardee will crack under pressure and melts if it gets wet enough.

What are you attempting to do?
Feed your calves separate from your cows?

If so have you considered a creep gate to a separate pen or pasture.
That is all I use to creep feed my calves while they are still on their momma.

I was thinking that it would be too brittle. Just wanted to see some others' thoughts. I'll be building 2 creep feeders. One will be inside a barn, the other out in a different pasture.
