Ground cover in Middle TN

I just had some work done on a fence line and have some bare ground that needs something on it for the winter. I am afraid it is too late for rye to take hold. Am I correct? If so is there any other seed like winter wheat that can be grazed that will grow this time of year?

Nothing comes to mind. Can you feed your rolled hay there? It'll sore the ground where ever you do it. Might build the ground up a little.

I had a new pond dug last January and I planted rye, it took.

Winter wheat was my thought. I guess I will try to google it.

You can plant rye, ryegrass, oats and wheat now. It will all come up.
