Just took a walk in the pasture before heading over to wash the project calves, snapped a few quick ones but the camera on my phone is slower than the ladies. Had a few that weren't blurry that I could share.
They were on the move down to the pond for their morning drink.
Sure like all colors of my girls ;)

The black one is a young thing out of my brother's favorite cow, she's about 2 1/2 and has a nice steer calf in the shed already.
The big gray cow is our weakest milker but still has very nice calves. She's had four already and her youngest is going to the fair with the crossbred spring calves class. Big heifer for seven months old, but then again, momma isn't no runt...

Okay, These are from another time, but I do love show and tell...
I love looking at everyone else's stock, and don't mind sharing.

Just call me crazy, I just like looking over cattle.
Sorry the calves are covered with poo... piggy babies

These are the dry ladies, out on pasture. The dark gray one in the middle is the dam of the 7 month old Shelly, below

I've come to accept that we do things very differently than most folks who raise beef.
Glacier Ridge Farm was running black and white dairy cattle twenty years ago...
Still farm the land and use the barn much the same as ever, just have different production of cattle these days :)

You'd enjoy it, I'm sure.
Feeding them choicest hay and feeding well in general pays off.
My brother has a wait list on steers.
Seems as though we can't grow them as fast as folks advertise for us.
Even been getting a few cows processed lately to at least have some burger available for customers while they wait their turns for young fed animals for their steaks, roasts and other good cuts.

More pics...
May as well add to this thread. :)
This time I played with color edits a little more.
I took the pics late in the day and was really running out of light...

This little orphan is known as Mr. Haggis.
He is my sister-in-laws little "pet"
Kind of an odd little fellow, but decent disposition.
Love how all kinds of hay flecks are stuck in his shaggy coat, must be saving it for later ;-)

Kind of excited to see his winter coat. :)

Some of the girls again.
This is "Tina"
She is a young first calf animal, she may grow a bit more yet...
Very slender compared to her brickhouse of a dam so far.

One that is coming close to her due date.
Another young cow.

Here are two of the mature cows, Eve on the left and Sugar in the red coat.
Sugar is a decent cow, but makes a TON of milk.
That blue beauty almost became a freezer meat almost 4 years ago.
My brother was worried about her legs (she broke both front ones as a young heifer, but they set and healed well), she has been doing awesome and can really raise some calves!!
Her oldest daughter is a chip off the ol' block except for color. :)
We will be keeping both as long as they keep doing their job for us.
