I just got my statement from State Farm for my farm and ranch policy. It's up by about $700! I thought I was going to choke. Has anybody else's policy gone through the roof???

Not yet...lol.

We insure through Horse Insurance Specialists in Pilot Point, TX. They insure all of our buildings, hay, contents, house, sheds, cattle, and 2 Stallions. Also have liability, etc. They have a website with lots of info and they will respond rather promptly to inquiries.

Cool. I'll check them out because that's just toooo big of a hike.
Thanks!

Ours went up this year, insurance on our place right now is $4,400 per year. But we have 3 chicken houses and they are hard to get coverage on. We have several other building too.

Mine went down. Changed dedubtible to $2000 and put everything under an umbrella policy. Am with State Farm too. Very good company. IMO

State Farm is having problems.

While not a ranch, our Homeowner's insurance more than doubled this year.

After having the same agent for over sixteen years, I gave him the oportunity to explain and makethings right. It is State Farm's policy to increase premiums here in Florida by 100%, across the board. They cited that they have had some major losses in the past few years due to hurricanes.

Apparantly, they're looking for farmers/ranchers to help pay for those losses also.

Best Regards.......

Our vehicle insurence is the cheapest thing we have 1 full coverage and 1 liability and its just under 600 per year. But we have them both insured as farm trucks since we both work on the farm that really helped.

Yep-- I had Farm Bureau for everything--but they kept raising rates- then wanted to drop my daughter after a deer ran into the SIDE of her car-claiming it was an avoidable accident  ...And then on top of it you had to be a member of their little coffee clache and pay dues....

Started doing a little checking with independent insurance agents- and got both insurance on all the ranch vehicles, plus house insurance, and liability from the Farmers Insurance Group- at a much cheaper rate on all...

Just went thru the hailstorm here- and the Farmers Group flew in a disaster team of adjusters that were here in 2 days-- inspected and wrote out checks on the same day for vehicles- and adjusted and payed for temporary house repairs immediatly- then sent another check to cover the new roof, windows, vents, gutters, etc within 2 weeks....

I was very impressed-- and the adjuster I talked to about my pickups was the cutest little gal from Florida I ever saw ;-)

ha ha.. Oldtimer, I am thinking that if they sent that little gal up there to raise your rates, you wouldnt mind it.
I have had Farm Bureau for 20+ years, and have had only 2 small rate increases.

I have Farm Bureau on everything; farm, cows, tractors, dozer, dump truck, backhoe, farm trucks, and wifes car, shop, house, and bunkhouse. I checked rates, and coverage. They were the best (for me )

we have our farm insured thru "United Farm Family Insurance CO. and our vehicals thru ANPAC. (american national Property and casualty co) had them for about 7 years now. i looked around in august for a different insurance co. thought it was getting high.. well seems like they are still the cheapest .

farm bureau ins..best out no doubt

I had them for several years. The office changed agents, though, and the new agent was a real crook. Started sending me a bill for premiums and I told him that it was all paid in escrow. I had the mortgage bill to prove it, called my lender. He just insisted I was wrong.

I went back to Allstate. I had them previously, and my car insurance was always with them. I haven't had any major suprises yet. I have had one episode with them over the roof. Never filed a claim on it, and replaced it ourselves this spring.

AAA for vehicles, ANPAC for everything else. Half the cost of Farm Bureau and almost twice the coverage. When we had the bad hail storm last year we had the roof replaced and the siding done in less then 2 weeks. Neighbors with FB just got there's repaired last month after fighting FB the whole time to settle up.

We've been with our agent a lot of years, but I'm going to call him and ask why State Farm has gone so high. If he can't fix it, I'm on to someone else.

In Texas, another option to look at is Germania.

http://www.germania-ins.com/

When my wife and I married in 2003, we changed to this company.

She had Geico and I had State Farm(since I was 16). When we started talking about all of our combined needs(cars, home, business, farm and ranch, and umbrella liability), Germania was able to beat the others by a good margin.
