have an angus cow that i ai'd 8/28/05,in standing heat and a wet rear, did not cycle again,on close inspection yesterday, she is starting to bag down significantly and looks like shes approaching it quick,so obviously my simmy bull got her on the first go round.......my question is how common is this for a cow to show standing heat after pregnency, also how does the corpus luteum work for something like this to happen..do they ovulate?is a second pregnency possible? thanks for any comments john

If you bred her on 8-28, she would be due about 6-10.
Some cows do exhibit a standing heat even tho they are pregnant. Not very common - but happens. Not much of a chance for her to ovulate during that "false" heat.
I would be concerned about an early abortion.
