Dead heifer

I dropped by a neighbor's place yesterday, and he had found a heifer dead. He said the heifer was 11 months old and seemed fine the day before. It was with another heifer she had been with since they had been weaned, and the other one was fine. I took a pic. There was a pink discharge out the nose. I had never seen anything like it, and he hadn't either. Anybody seen this before?

Can't say as I've ever seen anything quite like that.

Edit: I did see a picture of a cow dead of hyperthermia with a similar looking discharge.

Something similar happened over here last year and the way I remember it was part of the dying process and not the cause. Sorry for your for your loss. Hard to lose one.
