Hi all! I have not been around the site for awhile, but I have come up with a problem and thought you might be able to give me some advise.
I have flood irrigated pastures that are full of Dallis grass. In the past I have kept it mowed before it went to seed. This year I let it grow and discovered the sticky stuff on my horses and cows. Through my research I learned about the fungus that infects the seed heads that causes the "staggers". So, my question is should I mow it down now? Will the cattle and horses be able to avoid it all mulched up, or is it better to leave it alone? I understand, (as with hay) even dried out it is still toxic. Any ideas would be helpful.
Also, I don't have a large enough area to move them off entirely. Thank you!
