Uncle has a d3b cat that has not been cranked in quite a few years. Any advice on, this crawler good bad the ugly. Also on getting it back to life.

my advise isn't really on the loader itself but any diesel I buy that were sat up I drain all fluids replace all filters may service the injectors and even have took oil pan down cleaned it and replaced seal.

Try and put a bar on it and turn over by hand to make sure no water got in through exhaust manifold. Make sure oil and fuel all good and she should fire up.
You hear lots of stories of old machinery left idle for decades just firing straight up like that.
