Corraling Purchased Cows?

They all corral now. Just need a couple of feet of snow and some sub zero temps

When I bought new cows, I would have a good part of the herd already corraled. The new ones were unloaded to join the ones in the corral and left together for almost 24 hours. It worked well and there were no problems after they were all let out. This little lesson was learned after having bought 7 new cows and then just releasing them out into the pasture right away. Every damn one of them ran off and it took about a week to get them all back.

Put the water trough in the corral. Shut them off from any other source of water. Leave them to get use to the water for a few days. Then shut the corral gate for a day. When you open it they will be more than happy to go get a drink. That is the lazy man method.

A horse, any horse has better lungs than a cow. Run them in a circle in the middle of the field until they run out of air. When they are sucking air they get easier to herd.
