So, I really hadn't planned to disappear for the last several weeks. Unfortunately I had a bit of a mishap and ended up with a broken collarbone. That was about 10 weeks ago, and I had surgery on it also about 8 weeks ago. I'm feeling pretty good now, and while I don't have full range of mobility back yet, it is coming.
Unfortunately it made it really difficult to mess around on the computer and to type, as well as to do any sort of photography, among other things. But finally today I was able to get out to the cattle, open AND close the gates on my own, so I took a whole lot of photos.

I am pretty happy with how the calves are all looking... And if you look closely you will notice how GREEN it is in the photos. That is pretty amazing for this country, this time of the year. Usually it is brown, brown, brown. But I guess 6+ inches of rain in the last 3 weeks makes things green....

So here are the photos, there's lots of them! Enjoy!

This one is for MilkMaid! She will remember this guy, he has done amazingly well! Poor guy was born on a really cold night, in between about a 2 hour check, out of a heifer.... We thought we'd have to put the poor guy down, but he has surprised us all.

sorry to hear about your mishap. good thing the calves kept growing ;), they're looking really nice, I like 27, 141 and that SH/herf heifer looks pretty nice too.... 58 looks to lack some depth, but like the one pictured above her... Heck, what am I saying this for, you have a pretty darned good eye ;)
I sold most of mine a bit early to save some fall pasture, and was happy with the prices (5wts at 2.81), though I am a little short in weight.

Hope you heal up well, being laid up is no fun

You're going to have to go on vacation when those calves sell. Otherwise you're going to re-injure yourself jumping up and down and waiving your arms when they hand you the check. ;-) Get all the way well soon.

Sorry to hear about your collarbone Randi! Hope that you are well on the mend now.

Great pictures of everyone! Thanks for sharing! :D

Thanks, everyone! I am well on the way to 100% now. Just a matter of building muscle and range of motion back up. It's going pretty good I think!

Love the pictures Randi! The calves sure look good and I see quite a few familiar "faces." ;-) Like the picture of the red calf, he sure looks good. Funny looking nose but it doesn't look like it held him back at all. Thanks for posting!

I'll be up near Calgary in November, had to check the map but doesn't look like my drive takes me near your area this time. Hopefully on another trip.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your injury, but it's good to know you haven't been away just because you didn't love us any more! lol

What a good looking bunch of calves. Shorthorns are not very popular around here but you guys are sure a good advertisement for them.

Great looking calves once again !! Could you please send the blue roan cow my way and make sure to send calf with her !! That is one hell of a pair !!

Lol, cowboy. Only problem with her is her udder. She's got nice teats, but another couple years and her calf's going to need to lie on the ground to find them...I think.

Nice looking animals you have there. I like the colorful markings. That poor little fellow looks like he had a run-in with some frostbite. Glad he made it.

Hope you heal up quickly.
