Central Texas Fires

Help Support CattleToday:

Just my great grandparents but they won't be no help. Buried there.
You sure it's Greenville? Hunt County. Greenville's about 75 NE of downtown Dallas. They got a lot of rain yesterday morning.

HurleyJD lives about 50 miles SE of Greenville.
Yes it's Greenville. Said they were now waiting for things to happen elsewhere and they will go there. Yes said it was wet there today.

So far I've heard .2-.7 inches of rain. It's been windy sense it quit raining and more wind in the forecast. So I would bet we are in for some more fires in the future. No rain to speak of in the forecast either.

Kenny Thomas we just got word the Big M is on fire. Right on 281 near Stephenville. Saw video. Hoping they get on it quick.

Kenny Thomas my daughter lost both the 107 and the 139 night before last. Most of her cattle were saved. She is disbursing the entire beef master herd. She will retain the super baldy herd (only 48 three year olds) and move them to the place near Breckinridge.

Desdemona was spared and she has hay there.

This drought needs to end.
Prayers. Been through a house fire. Lost 7 of my dogs. Hospitalized trying to save them. She's in my thoughts.

They've been fighting fire on ft hood all week. Yesterday I could see multiple small columns of smoke off the big fire where they were lighting back fires. The where saying 1000 acres and completely contained on the reservation. No worries. Got a little windy last night and now they've lost 10,000 acres 0 percent contained. Off the reservation and fixing to burn up the community of flat.

We've been watching it from McGregor-had ash flying all day yesterday in our yard, now a friend in Gatesville is a mile from another evacuation zone.

Looks bad. Keep posting some pictures.
I have friends that served at Ft Hood and I'm forwarding the pictures to them.
Last time I worked TX (2018) I checked in and out at the TX A&M Forest Service office in McGregor.
The wind finally stopped this evening, it was about 30 mph all day. Maybe they can make some headway tonight. Possible rain/storms Tuesday night. Picture here is from a friend who lives in Gatesville. From this afternoon

Ash has rained down on me for 9 days straight now. It is terrible up here. Kenny those airplanes are amazing. We have those little dudes scooping water out of reservoirs and dumping it on flames. Its been bad here but so far I have been spared.
