The Tale of Jake the Kid
This is a story about a kid named Jake,
And an old time Sheriff that was on the take.
The Sheriff held his town in an iron grip,
With the star on his shoulder and the pistols on his hip.
There was alot of people in that town,
Who would like to bring the Sheriff down.
There was a mysterious man known as LA4,
Who'd snarl at you if you asked him more.
And C.C. was fast but up in years,
And now was more interested in whiskeys and beers.
There was Ruby and Annie with hearts of gold,
Who kept the men warm when they came in from the cold.
And a Texan who'd fought the Sheriff before,
And years later, still was sore.
It was a hot, hot day in the blazing sun,
When Jake came to town riding a horse named Dun,
Now Jake said the horse had the spirit of a man,
That was trapped there by an old Indian,
And he said the horse just seemed to know,
Where it was that Jake needed to go.
Well, Jake came in and got off his horse,
And headed for the bar of course.
The Sheriff yelled 'I don't want no trouble, you hear?',
But Jake ignored him and ordered a beer.
And the sheriff said 'Boy, I think you're pretty rude,'
And I don't like your looks or your attitude'.
Then the Sheriff walked over and grabbed Jake by the hair,
And picked him up and tossed him from his chair.
Then Jake said 'I'm not looking for a fight.
I'll be leaving here before tonight.'
The Sheriff said 'That's not good enough.
I think you better show me your stuff.'
When Jake walked out of the saloon,
The sun in the sky said it was half past noon.
The air in the town was deathly still,
As the Sheriff stared at Jake, testing his will.
Then the Sheriff made to go for his gun,
But Jake just stood there, calmly talking to Dun.
But when the Sheriff cleared leather to his surprise,
Jake had shot him right between the eyes.
Then there rose a mighty shout,
And Jake got on his horse and rode on out.
And the tale was told of a horse named Dun,
And Jake the Kid with the fastest gun.
