What is the terminolgy for a heifer that can not be bred? Someone told me people from Texas call them "railers".
Is this the proper terminolgy for that?

Well Mike generally I think most of us would call her rump roast! LOL! But the technical term for a sterile heifer is a free martian. There are probably many local versions like the one from Texas.... and I like that one! Thanks!
Janet

The proper term for a female twin when the other twin is a male is "freemartin" not free martian. The odds of a freemartin heifer breeding are exceedingly low because the male hormones from her in-utero twin have interfered with the proper development of her reproductive organs.
I doubt the term freemartin applies to all female bovine that cannot be bred.
