Sorry, I was not sure where to put this question. I did here because buffalos are very close to cows.

Do water buffalos have strong spine enough to be ridden? I want to own one for riding.

I have ridden one recently and fall in love. They are fast, docile, great swimmers and majestic and super powerful. Here where I live it is not expensive to own such animals. Also the best part is that they give much milk.

the above link takes you on an another Q and A site that I posted the same question on with two photos of mine with the buffalo.

You answered your own questinon. Are they strong enough in the back to ride?? Then you said you rode one. Don't have a clue where you'd fine one in the US. Maybe SE Asia.

We have the bigger Asian Water Buffalo strain, they are definitley strong enough to ride, they give less milk than any milking breed of domestic cow, and take almost twice as long to milk, the milk is very rich though and we use it for mozzarella cheese and ice cream with Italian hard cheese in the pipeline. While they are very docile as a rule, the cows are demons when newly calved and are literally lethal if they feel their calf is threatened.

Hey.Thanks for replying.Sorry,I am new into forums and I had problems posting and replying.I live in India of the state of Assam. Thanks for the links too. Also,I am afraid because a veterinarian on yahoo answers says about cows that "
well you can but i really wouldnt recomend it because cows have a lower bone structure and there hip bones are connected to there back bone and rib cage which is where youd be sitting and they have very weak hips so no i would not recomend it.".This is not about buffalo though.
