It would seem to make sense to me....When we bought Alaska everybody thought we were getting an icebox and that was before the earth changed to global warmings... It would make a nice summer vacation place for those seeking cooler climates..

With only 60k inhabitants in an area fifth the size of the USA.
Sounds like absolute genius to me if we can make a deal.
This is not the first time in our history we have toyed with idea or purchased large chunks of real estate.
The irony here manifest destiny was a policy embraced by the blue party being pursued today by a red president.

"Historians have emphasized that "manifest destiny" was a contested concept—Democrats endorsed the idea but many prominent Americans (such as Abraham Lincoln,[5] Ulysses S. Grant,[6] and most Whigs) rejected it.[7] Historian Daniel Walker Howe writes, "American imperialism did not represent an American consensus; it provoked bitter dissent within the national polity ... Whigs saw America's moral mission as one of democratic example rather than one of conquest."

The older I get the more open ground I want to put between me and these undesirables... :cowboy:

Let's buy Canada too.

Specifically everything west and north of the Great Lakes. Everything else is just a cesspool of socialists where cost vastly outweighs value.

What money are you going to buy it with?

That's simple pull it out of the Medicare for all pot. And when all else fails tax corporations more, half the moronic Americans will never realize they are paying it through increased prices passed to them.

Add it to the military budget. I see Greenland as being of greater strategic surveillance value to the US than monetary. Keep the Red Bears at bay.

Just print the money, right? "Put in on our tab"
Most americans wouldn't notice the price increase of everything because of a devalued dollar either

I wouldn't concern yourself with financial matters to the South. The US has the population and resilience to continue for many years to come. You can be more worried about this shithole country with our crap dollar and nothing to back it up beyond best wishes and magical unicorns. All while our 'leader' hugs trannies and gives money to terrorists. You best believe this country would not even exist if it weren't for the shadow of military might beside us. Russia or China would have invaded many years ago and walked right over us if Mexico was our neighbor and USA was in the Southern Hemisphere. I am sure Stalin would have loved to have had possession of 80% of the Northern Hemisphere.

My understanding is President Eisenhower offered to buy it from Denmark in 1953 and was rejected.
He viewed it as strategic to military defense for a missile base to deter ussr. But he did reach an
agreement with Denmark/Greenland to build a U.S. Air Force base/landing strip on the north end,
which I think might still be in use today.

The fact is, this is an independent country and not for sale. In fact, it isn't owned by the Danes. Seeking to buy land to build a base for a strategic advantage is negotiated privately between governments and doesn't include private land or people. A public pronouncement saying that you wish to 'buy' another country is absolutely absurd. Insanity prevails.

If you promise to get rid of the present pos ruler and his j / i / h / a / d / i loving friends I would say go for it.

Lots of Canadians would support this one.

As for Greenland - it would be expensive but one heck of a purchase.

Best to all.

Plus, we already have a base there.
