Agree with your points shorty. Sometimes selling your best not only is profitable but a good way to promote your program too. Agree with #3, some heifers mature better or turn out to be better cows. Until you get a calf or 2 out of a female the verdict is never really out on which heifer was your top heifer for that year. Have seen a really good heifer disappoint as a cow and had a heifer that barely made the cut for replacements turn out to be a great cow so you never really know. #5 is true too. We sold our top 2012 heifer this fall as a bred heifer and kept her full sister born in 2013 who wasn't the top heifer in this year's bunch but still a good heifer.
