does walking a steer really build muscle? what feeds build muscle better than others.

Yeah it does. The recommended is two miles a day. I used to walk mine allll around the farm every morning. Make sure he has plenty of room to exercise. Energy feeds and green grass will help him grow good solid muscle.

still whating for the cow to calve end of jan. begining feb. Just try to learn how to raise a steer for 4-H

i walk mine enough for him to maintian his manners. the rest of the time i leave him in a small turn out but big enough for him to walk or run around in. he gets free choice hay all day and always feed 2.5 to 3% of their body weight. but i don't walk mine alot because the fat will fade off of him, which is what your judge is looking for in a market steer.
