We weaned our second ever group of spring registered calves yesterday. Kept three heifers and three bulls to develop. My light was almost gone and I was by myself..I'll definitely be trying for better soon! All of the keepers adjusted to over 600#, with one bull being our first actual 700 pounder.

This heifer is 35% or better in 9 out of 10 traits..the 1 odd trait being fat thickness.

This one is sired by our bull, and adjusted to over 700 pounds.

This is a bunch of sad babies calling their mamas.

Ultrasounded the cows yesterday and all of our AI's stuck, so we are in pretty good spirits here lately. Rain would be nice, though.

Those look like they will make a fine group of mothers, I look at hundreds of em everyday.

Put some Hereford in there and you will stretch em out a little. These are all Brangus bull x Braford cow calves that will be for sale in your area in about a month.

That is a great cross. I wish more people would do that here, instead of charolais. Which sale are they going to be in? Nixon?

Thanks everyone! :) Here are some more I took a little while ago..because pictures are always fun to look at.

This is another of the first heifer..I think it does her a little more justice. We like her a lot.

Magnum son we are keeping for the commercial herd. Really soft and lots of volume.

Bottom heifer of the three, sired by our bull. The baby of the group.

Those calves look very nice, looks just like a Brangus should look!! Did you say you're keeping both bull calves?
I went to Navasota auction on yesterday and calves like that was going from anywhere of 1.30 to 1.55 a pond.

Definitely keeping those two, and selling the third one. Hopefully prices only get higher! We've decided to take our commercial calves another month before weaning them.
