Atten TX & OK drought survivors - HELP!

Help Support CattleToday:

ok heres what we was faced with last year with the drought here in texas.we had a baliong fire last year that burned prolly 50 bales of down hay an 4 or 5 bales that had been baled.so we went into the drought with maybe 70 bales an 60 cows calves an heifers.we sold off 2 cull cows an every calf that was ready.started feeding hay in july 2 bales a week is what we fed.plus we feed them meal 2 or 3 times a week.then in feb our winter pasture took off.feed 8 bales between feb an mar 15th,as the cows quit eating hay.had 20 bales of leftover hay.an did not buy any hay.but sell all your calves over 300lbs or 5 months old.cull your prob cows.an limit feed hay an feed out the sack 2 or 3 times a week.i forgot to add this year we are running 80 to 90hd of cows heifers an calves.so we didnt have to cull to the bone.

Sell everything now while prices are good and sell the hay too. I probably wouldn't do that either but it would be the most economical move.

Probably would be, but no fun. This is gambling, and I'm addicted
