A good guy and he really was a pillar of this part of the county.
Not sure exactly what happened, but he had what the sheriff called a 'golf cart' up on ramps and it somehow went into gear and either ran over him or fell on him....he was doing the work several hundred yards from his house and when he didn't come back to the house the family went looking and found him deceased already. AFAIK, he didn't have a golf cart but had both a 4 wheeler and an RTV like a Mule.
He had been honored by the county on the courthouse lawn a few years ago as one of the county's purple heart Vietnam Vets.
He will be missed.

That is tragic, those freak accidents can and will happen. Never can be too careful or take too many precautions, most likely nothing would ever happen but there's always that chance.

Those freak accidents happen pretty frequently. Know two knotheads that bypassed safety start switch on tractors. They survived but payed a heavy stupid tax.

Sorry to hear this, it is because of things like this that I cannot work with or around people that think aholes and elbows is the only way to get things done. Being methodical and thinking through a project, before you begin, prevents most issues like this.
