40 hp grbx rated means what

is the bushhog for example got a 40 hp gearbox on it. is the rating for the maximun drive hp or the amt of hp required to drive it.
ive got a 24 hp kubota compact tractor i want a 4ft bushhog on. its diesel and pretty good power. but the mowing deck underneath just wont knock down at a good enuff speed to do ft tall dry grass.
good deals on a 4ft hog here i just wonder if my tractor will drive it

The strength of the gear box. Over it's hp rating will shorten the life and maybe tear it up.

Your tractor should do just fine like Dun said the rating is a max reccomended hp rating

Sharp blades and slower speed well do wonders.

I run a 6 foot JD with dull blades with a 32 hp Kubota with no problems
